Synopsis by Leslie Birdwell
This is a documentary about the demise of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 and focuses on the very moments when people were able to move freely across what was once a fatal border. Interviews with the main players, such as President George Bush, General Secretary Gorbachev, NBC News Correspondent Tom Brokaw, and former Secretary of State James Baker, shed new light on the risks involved in removing the long-standing barrier. The video explains how what is now remembered as a time of celebration and peaceful transition could have turned into violence without the efforts of all involved.
