This tale of moonshiners in the Cumberland mountains was based on the novel by Charles Neville Buck. Turner Stacy, otherwise known as Bearcat (Bernard Durning), is the son of moonshiner Lone Stacy (Winter Hall). When he falls in love with Blossom (Vangie Valentine), the daughter of missionary Joel Fulkerson (Walt Whitman), he swears off drinking -- he even swears he will get out of the moonshining business. In a moment of weakness, he gets drunk and Blossom turns her attention towards a handsome young surveyor. The locals suspect the surveyor is a revenue officer, and a tough gang of moonshiners set out to kill him. Bearcat comes to the surveyor's rescue and gives his assailants a brutal beating. He then tries to hustle Blossom and the surveyor off to the altar. Blossom, however, has come to appreciate Bearcat and she chooses him over his rival. A pre-stardom Lon Chaney is featured in a small role.
