In this syrupy and somewhat unrealistic drama, Maria leaves Mexico to enter the U.S. illegally, searching for the father of her two-year-old boy. She easily finds work and lodging in Los Angeles, which is fortunate, since her erstwhile boyfriend has settled down quite happily with a blonde U.S. citizen whom he has recently married.
