The medium of watercolor painting is an art form with a technical difficulty that is seldom understood by anyone who has not tried it. Watercolors demand a brave heart and a steady hand; unlike oil painting, once watercolor paint hits the paper, there is no second chance. The artist must learn to work with what is there in the translucent surface, rather than trying to modify it by painting over it.
