The developments and events that led to the downfall of the Tsars is examined in Warwick History: The Decline of Tsarism. There were many factors, including the inability of Nicholas II to understand the plight of the peasantry. This program looks at the severe economic difficulties of the Russian people, compounded by military defeats, including the Russo-Japanese conflict, and uncertain leadership. These culminated in the rise of the Bolsheviks, who would go on to overthrow the provisional government and take over Moscow.
