Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This uneven documentary explores the lives and rationalizations of several mercenary soldiers, the Warheads of the title. Most of the film is devoted to the current life and philosophy of a "retired" soldier, Günther Aschenbrenner, who runs a training camp for would-be mercenaries in the U.S. In order to have the kind of active military experience he desired, he initially joined the notoriously harsh French Foreign Legion. The film also explores the thinking a British mercenary, whose justifications for his vocation are quite incredible, and concludes with a brief examination of the situation of several female mercenaries.
