Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Child star Gloria Joy stars in this charming, if not particularly exciting feature. Bab Fanning (Joy) is the daughter of a shoemaker (H.E. Archer). She makes friends with Tom Wellsley (Julian Dillon), who has run away from home to seek out adventure. Once he gets bored, however, he's afraid to go home because of his stern father (Daniel Gilfether). He tries becoming a newsboy, but the other newsies put an end to his efforts by planting stolen fruit on him. As a result, Tom is sent to the House of Correction. Bab goes to work as a newsie herself in an attempt to earn enough money to free her pal, but is unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Tom gets mixed up with a rough gang of boys and escapes from the jail with them. When they want to rob a house, however, he balks -- especially since the house belongs to his father. Bab discovers the gang while they are trying to break into the Wellsley home. The gang is scared off, and Bab makes friends with Mr. Wellsley. She is eventually able to bring about reconciliation between father and son.
