Synopsis by Hal Erickson
After the acrimonious departure of longtime host Louis Rukeyser, the producers of the weekly PBS series Wall $treet Week opted to cater to a younger, "hipper" demographic by introducing a brace of new, attractive emcees. Reflecting the series' recent merger with Fortune magazine, that publication's editorial director Jeff Colvin assumed the cohosting duties in the company of Karen Gibbs, former senior business correspondent for the Fox News Channel. In the tradition of the many "point-counterpoint" political series glutting the cable TV market of the era, Colvin and Gibbs were encouraged to disagree on financial matters as often as they agreed. The "new" Wall $treet Week With Fortune was unveiled by PBS on June 28, 2002.
