Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

The prize-winning Walkman Blues paints an eloquent picture of the loneliness of life in a city as vast and crowded as Berlin. Without any explanation of who he is, a young man wearing a walkman on the bus is followed from one place to another. He works in a slaughterhouse, plays the organ with a local band, and lives alone in a rather miserable factory loft. Obviously, the walkman keeps him even more isolated, and it is this lack of a connection to other people that emerges as a leitmotif, set against a cold and forbidding Berlin winter.
