The history of popular music was traced back to music halls and Tin Pan Alley, with stopovers on Broadway and the West End and an entertaining overview of "Beatlemania." Also included were samples of current musical favorites who, like their predecessors, were placed in proper historical perspective. Walk on By: The Story of the Popular Song was originally telecast beginning March 17, 2001.
