Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Infused with a sense of humor that is easily shared by most cultures, this Russian comedy by Vilen Azarov does not have any propaganda messages but instead focuses on the situations that arise when two generations live in very cramped quarters. Anatoly (Alexei Gribov) and his wife Zoya (Zoya Fedorova) have a three-room apartment, and on the very day when Anatoly finally retires from his factory job, his daughter elopes and brings the groom home to live with her. Clashes are inevitable as the well-grounded father and partly idealistic son-in-law find themselves at close quarters. And as the son-in-law will soon find out, it does not help to bring home a few friends for a musical evening not based on the classics. But as time goes by, the daughter gets pregnant and then it is the newlyweds who might have some legitimate complaints about "interfering grandparents."
