Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This series, from Australia's public television network, chronicles the story of the physical geography and natural history of the Island Continent. Experts think that when the gigantic landmass broke apart, the ensuing continental drift formed the Earth's other large landmasses. Computer graphics and nature photography are used to illustrate the story. Interviews with scholars provide the commentary. This episode covers the formation of the landmass, the beginnings of life in the surrounding ocean, and the breaking up of the land, starting the process known as continental drift.
