Indian actor/filmmaker Kamal Haasan writes, directs, and stars in the controversial drama Virumaandi, set in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu. The double-perspective film follows a journalist (Rohini) around a prison while investigating a story about capital punishment. She first interviews Koththaala Thevar (Pasupathy), who is on death row. He speaks of the chaos in his village. She then interviews his neighboring enemy Virumaandi (Haasan), who tells a much different story. Between the two rivals is the brave heroine Annalakshmi (Abhiraami).
