Synopsis by Janiss Garza

For the third installment of the Chronicles of America series, the producers, Yale University Press, focused on one of the most heroic and least acknowledged figures of the American Revolution, George Rogers Clark (his younger brother William became famous as one of the two leaders of the Lewis and Clark expedition). Leslie Austin stars as Clark, who claimed the Northwest Territory (the area that would become Michigan and Indiana) for America in a fierce and strategic battle against the British. After Clark and his men occupied Kaskaskia, the British military general Henry Hamilton (Robert Gaillard) overtook Vincennes, but decided to hold off attacking Kaskaskia until after winter was over. When Clark discovered Hamilton's plan, he immediately gathered his forces together and braved the brutal weather to attack the unsuspecting Hamilton, who was forced to surrender after three days of fighting. William Walcott appears briefly as Patrick Henry in this three-reel historical picture.
