Synopsis
An ambitious and much honored 13-part study that traces American involvement in Southeast Asia via archival footage and interviews. It begins by tracing the 'Roots of War' to early 20th-century French colonialism, when nationalist Ho Chi Minh rallied the support of the peasants and changed the destiny of the country. Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Billy Kreutzmann composed music for the series, which won six Emmys, as well as Peabody, Polk and Columbia-duPont awards.
