Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Vanity begins with the murder of a blackmailer, a crime which the police presume to have been committed by prominent banker Robert Armstrong (Dick Martindel. Cloak model Phyllis Lord (Emmy Wehlen), erstwhile sweetheart of the murdered man, is strong-armed into getting the goods on the killer. To do this, Phyllis pretends to fall in love with Dick Armstrong (Paul Gordon), the banker's son. But upon falling in love with Dick for real, Phyllis decides to save Dick's father by double-crossing the cops. To prevent Phyllis from revealing that the Police Chief (W.W. Black) is a bigamist, the authorities agree to drop the case against the elder Armstrong -- whose crime, it turns out, was eminently justifiable.
