Despite never having set foot on Japanese soil, artist Vincent van Gogh found significant inspiration in the culture and traditions of the country. Japanese artistic motifs arrived in Paris in the 19th century, spurring a fascination amongst van Gogh and his contemporaries. These encounters amidst the consumption of art provide the narrative as to the extent Japanese artistic modes found their way into van Gogh's noteworthy works. Directed by David Bickerstaff.
