When a slaughterhouse worker is fired from his job, he begins a futile eight month search for employment. He steals a cow to feed his wife and their many children. When he tries to steal another cow, he is caught and sentenced to a five year prison term. Without the father as the primary breadwinner, the family falls apart. His unfortunate children are forced into theft and prostitution in order to survive. This marks the directorial debut for Aldo Francia, the respected pediatrician who organized the Vina Del Mar Film Festival.
