Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Frederick Alfred Kummer's popular stage play The Brute was first adapted to the screen in this multi-reel Famous Players production. Heading the cast were two Broadway luminaries, Malcolm Williams and Helen Hilton. The film concerns the trials and tribulations of a woman who is married to a "brute" of a husband. Sorely tempted to leave her spouse and run off with a wealthy young bachelor (played by Famous Players "regular" House Peters), the woman inexplicably remains with her husband. But fear not: he is a "brute" only in that he demands she do her household duties; by film's end, it is obvious that hubby is far more loving and devoted than the woman's would-be lover ever could have been.
