Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on the novel L'Abbe Constantin, Bettina Loved a Soldier starred Louise Lovely as Bettina and Rupert Julian (who also directed) as her uniformed sweetie Jean Reynaud. Very, very wealthy, Bettina is also very, very reluctant to get married. She changes her mind in a hurry when she meets Reynaud, the nephew of Abbe Constantin (George Berrell), the poverty-stricken religious leader of the small French village of Longueval. Rescuing Reynaud from a scandalous affair with a married woman, Bettina offers to let him subsist on her income, but he is too proud for that. Eventually, Bettina wins her man, but first she must prevent him from fighting a duel with the husband of his former lady friend.
