Pauline Frederick plays a dual role as twin sisters in Ashes of Embers. The future happiness of the good twin is imperiled by the machinations of the bad one. Leading man Earle Foxe nearly falls in love with the wrong twin before things are set right. Ashes of Embers was one of Paramount's "Famous Players in Famous Plays" productions: in this instance, the play was written by Forrest Halsey. Most of the Paramount "Famous Players" failed to click in films and returned to Broadway, but Pauline Frederick enjoyed a substantial Hollywood career.
