Synopsis by Mark Deming
Five stories of young people struggling with various aspects of growing up intersect in this drama set in an Italian middle school. Noemi is a girl with a weight problem who is rejected by the popular kids at school, and takes to the internet to create an alternate identity where she can be seen as beautiful. Kadim is an immigrant from Senegal; while he's a good student and his mother wants him to focus on his education, the family's financial problems may force him to quit school and find a job. Brendon is smitten with Munira, but her father forbids her to see him, embarrassed by their home and their heritage. Andrea is losing her patience with Michelle, who has become her sworn enemy after Andrea began dating Antonio, a boy Michelle likes. And Jonathan's friendship with Alberto turns sour when Alberto falls in love with Vanessa and he no longer has time for his old friend; it takes a near tragic event to bring them back together. Tajabone was an official selection at the 2010 Venice Film Festival.
