Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two men of different faiths discover how much (and how little) they have in common in this documentary from filmmaker Stephen Marshall. Aaron D. Taylor is a Christian from Missouri who believes it is his duty to expose as many people as possible to the words of Jesus Christ, and he spends much of his time in the Middle East, preaching to Muslims in hope of converting them. Khalid Kelly was born in Ireland, but became a Muslim and now lives in London; he is a passionate advocate for his faith who believes it is destiny that Islam will become the world's dominant religion and it's the duty of his people to fight for their beliefs if circumstances demand it. In Holywars, Marshall profiles both these men as they share their beliefs and spread their faith in their own way. Then he brings them together, and Kelly and Taylor discover they see eye to eye on a few issues -- and disagree vehemently on many others. Holywars was an official selection at the 2010 Silverdocs Documentary Film Festival.
