Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Originally Tag Der Freheit, Days of Freedom, filmed during the 1935 Nuremberg rally, is Leni Reifenstahl's smaller-scale follow-up to her pro-Nazi paean Triumph of the Will. The focus here is on the German army, where Adolf Hitler, Rudolf Hess, and Hermann Goering oversee an endless parade of troops, tanks, and weaponry. The film ends with a montage of Nazi flags and an astonishing shot of German planes flying overhead in a swastika formation! Many modern viewers may have trouble enduring this grim homage to Nazi military power.
