Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man is forced to start his life over again as he approaches retirement age in this drama from first-time director Enrique Rivero. Beto (Nolberto Coria) is a man of Mexican Indian heritage who is drifting past middle age and leads a simple, well-ordered life. Beto is a live-in caretaker looking after a mansion owned by a wealthy woman he calls La Senora (Tesalia Huerta); while Beto devotes his days to keeping the home clean and in good repair, La Senora hasn't lived there for years, and Beto has few visitors besides her driver, who delivers his pay and occasional newspapers, and Lupe (Nancy Orozco), a part-time prostitute who counts Beto as a regular client. Beto has come to enjoy his life of quiet and isolation, and is startled when he learns that La Senora has finally found a buyer for the estate and he's being let go; while she tries to help him find a new job, Beto is clearly no longer accustomed to dealing with the outside world, and he finds himself without a job or a place to live for the first time. Parque Via received the prestigious Golden Leopard award at the 2008 Locarno Film Festival.
