Two teenage sisters from a suburban housing project in Paris attempt to discover their true place as women in a world where all hope for humanity seems to have long since been lost. Sixteen year old Lya and her seventeen year old sister Chirine live in a cramped housing project with their abusive father. Now that he officially considers Chirine a woman, their father will no longer speak to her, leaving Lya as the only one capable of standing up to him. But while naïve Chirine thinks she sees a way out of the situation by going to work as a model for a man named Alex who claims to be a powerful agent, Lya comes to her sister's rescue by revealing the man as the head of a dangerous prostitution ring. Later, with a bit of help from her rebellious sister Lya, Chirine learns to defend herself and makes the acquaintance of a top advertising executive named Simon. Not only is Simon entirely legitimate, but he's hopelessly captivated by Chirine's beauty as well. Later, as Chirine takes control of her own destiny and the two sisters drift between the suburbs and the city, love and violence intertwine as they both struggle to hang on to their own humanity.
