Based on the twenty-one part manga series originally published in Big Comic, Shingo Matsubara's easygoing drama tells the tale of a stressed out human resource worker who finds happiness as an intermediate wholesaler at a high profile fish market. Shuntaro Akagi (Takao Osawa) is a successful businessman at a general trading company, but his relatively stagnant life is about to take a most unusual turn. Financially well off and pondering the prospect of marriage to his beautiful girlfriend Asuka (Rena Tanaka), Shuntaro appears to be at the top of his game both personally and professionally until his superiors charge him with the task of organizing a large-scale corporate restructuring. One of the employees Shuntaro has been assigned the task of downsizing is the very same superior who once showed him the ropes around the office, leaving the generally dutiful human resources worker hopelessly conflicted. Shuntaro's attention is soon diverted, however, when he's recruited to lend a helping hand around the Dragon Fish, a Tsukiji Fish Market that's usually run by Asuka's ailing father. At first the transition is somewhat difficult, and Shuntaro finds himself seriously intimidated by the quirky characters he meets at the Dragon Fish and the traditions that have been handed down through generations of employees. Over time, however, Shuntaro discovers that his highly refined sense of taste is a much greater personal asset than his questionable boardroom skills ever were, and that working in his quirky new surroundings brings him much more happiness than working in a place where work colleagues won't hesitate to stab you in the back when presented with an opportunity to climb the corporate ladder.
