Synopsis by Bruce Eder

This 1914 feature, starring Barney Gilmore, Baby Osborne, and Violet Stewart, probably seemed interminable to many viewers at the time it opened, as the first seven minutes are spent in what amounts to a travelogue of the City of New York -- an element that makes this movie rather priceless viewing nearly a century later. As to the plot, Gilmore plays Detective Dooley, who is called in on the case when a series of robberies take place at the warehouse of a wealthy silk merchant. But the crooks are sufficiently brazen so that they end up kidnapping Toots (Baby Osborne), the owner's little daughter, from the care of her nurse (Violet Stewart), who pluckily joins the detective in trying to find the tot and ends up in the hands of the crooks, and Dooley trying to rescue both of them.
