Anna Moffo stars in the title role of this live performance of the Italian opera by Gaetano Donizetti. The story is reminiscent of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, complete with feuding families and forbidden love. Although he has maintained the upper hand in battle against their rival family, Lucia's brother has fallen into political disfavor and seeks to restore his position by arranging a marriage for Lucia. Lucia, however, has fallen in love with the enemy and is torn between upholding her family's position and following her heart.
