Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

Australian filmmaker Tom Zubrycki takes on the duties of writer,director, and producer for the documentary Molly & Mobarak. The story follows twentysomething Afgahni refugee Mobarak Tahiri, who is seeking asylum in the small town of Young near Sydney, Australia. He finds work at a meat-packing plant and starts taking English lessons with volunteer Lyn Rule, who is a single mother to twentysomething Molly. After Molly teaches him how to drive, they enjoy a brief romance. The conclusion finds Molly off to Europe, leaving Mobarak at risk of deportation. Molly & Mobarak was shown at the 2003 Sydney Film Festival.
