Just a Woman was based on the play of the same name by Eugene Walter. Taken for granted by everyone, including her dullard of a husband, Anna Holton (Charlotte Walker) is actually the brains in her household. When an inventor moves into the Holton home, it is Anna who sells his newest invention to the steel-manufacturing company where her husband Jim works. Suddenly wealthy, Jim convinces himself that he is wholly responsible for his good fortune, and soon begins running around with other women. But when it appears as if Anna is keeping time with the inventor, Jim blows his chauvinistic top and files for divorce. Things finally turn out all right when Jim concedes that Anna is far, far more than "just a woman." The Walter play would be refilmed in 1925, with Claire Windsor as the resourceful, underappreciated heroine.
