Synopsis by Hal Erickson

La Hora de las Sorpresas (Surprise Hour) was inspired by the popular Argentine radio "amateur-hour" series of the same name. The fragmentary plot concerns the efforts of a young heiress (Rosita Moreno) to win a guest spot on the radio program, and thereby win a bet with her fiancé. Unable to impress the producers when she shows up in all her expensive finery, our heroine auditions a second time, wearing ragged clothing and adopting an assumed name. She further pretends to be the daughter of an ailing vaudeville star, claiming that the money she'll receive from her radio appearance will go towards putting her "daddy" back on his feet. Just before her broadcast debut, the girl is exposed as a fraud -- thereby permitting a steady stream of local variety acts to go on in her place.
