Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Although she was an unknown in the States, Madge Titheradge was famous in her home country of England as a Pauline Frederick-type dramatic actress. This picture, told flashback style, was directed by her brother, Dion Titheradge, who also wrote the story. Mrs. Ashlyn (Madge Titheradge) is unable to stop a scandalous story about her from running in the morning newspaper -- a convict, escaped from Sing Sing, was found hiding in her bedroom. So she goes to her wealthy, influential husband to try to explain the events that led up to her dilemma: Years before she was tricked into a phony marriage by Oscar Kaplan (Campbell Gullan), who she met at a Russian port. Kaplan brought her to New York, where he promptly deserted her. Eventually Kaplan was sent to prison and revealed as a bigamist. Meanwhile, she went to work and found real love with her present husband. But then Kaplan, who escaped from prison, crashed a masquerade ball in his prison clothes and terrorized her. Once she has explained the situation, Mr. Ashlyn understands that his wife is not to blame.
