Synopsis by Janiss Garza
When John Herncastle (Edmund Mortimer) steals a valuable gem from a statue at an Indian temple, the three priests there are stripped of their caste until its return. They track him down and kill him, but can't find the stone, which winds up with Herncastle's niece, Rachel Verinder (Elaine Hammerstein). The executor of Herncastle's estate, Franklin Blake (Eugene O'Brien), is in love with Rachel, and he goes to her country home. There the stone mysteriously disappears. It turns out that Blake took it while sleepwalking, and before it winds up back with the priests, it is stolen yet again, pawned, and found once more. This melodrama was based on the novel by Wilkie Collins.
