Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
A prominent Bulgarian general (Peter Slabakov) faces execution when King Boris III (Naum Shopov) decides to side with Russia in this World War II drama. The monarch also figures that the anti-communist factions would revolt, but he believes the kingdom would be better off in an alliance with the Germans. The general and the king both are portrayed as sympathetic and human, each trying to do what is best for their beloved homeland. The doomed general is visited by his wife shortly before he is killed in a gripping scene.
