Synopsis by Bhob Stewart
Hans Scheirl produced, wrote and directed this experimental British-Austrian avant-garde science-fiction fantasy about a "split-personality cyborg of fluid gender" -- Dandy Dust (Scheirl), who lives in an artificially created environment. Dandy's memory has been wiped out, but s/he still has flashbacks about a childhood of sexual abuse on the Planet of Blood and Swelling. Director Scheirl combines a variety of film techniques and formats -- fast-motion, black-and-white and color, animation (stop-motion, cut-out, clay, digital), Super 8mm, miniatures, tinted images, and frozen frames -- in a final video transfer to 16mm. Shown at the 1998 San Francisco Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
