Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
Sapho (Marina Vlady) is the liberated woman who sets her sights on both men and women for her sexual satisfaction. She falls for a vapid young diplomat named Lionel (Renaud Verley), and soon the two live together to continue their passionate love affair. Lionel's father (Jacques Monod) is financially wiped out and pushes his son to marry the daughter of a wealthy man. Lionel leaves the heartbroken Sapho, but he returns to her when he knkows he can't live without her love. Sapho refuses to take him back as the love she once held for Lionel has now died. the story is taken from the novel by Alphonse Daudet.
