Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This comedy had several winning elements, among them a screenplay based on O. Henry's story, The Halberdier, and dashing star power in handsome Wallace Reid. Billy Deering (Reid) wants to marry Helen Rogers (Wanda Hawley), but her father (Theodore Roberts) objects because he feels that Billy, though wealthy, is an idler. If the young man can hold a job for a month without getting fired, says, Mr. Rogers, he can have Helen. But this is easier said than done for Billy; no matter what he does, from being a stenographer to playing a xylophone, he is a failure -- but at least he manages to quit before being fired! Finally he winds up landing a job posing in a suit of armor in a restaurant. While thus outfitted, he overhears a business scheme being plotted against Mr. Rogers. When Helen comes into the restaurant with her father, Billy manages to foil the rival's plot and win Mr. Rogers' consent.
