Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In this picture, set in the Canadian wilds Dorothy Dalton, as Allaine Grandet, is passed around like a sack of goods. First her father gives her away in marriage to the brutal trapper Jules Latour (William Conklin). Latour, in turn, hands her over to dance hall proprietor Dermot (Melbourne MacDowell) for some money and booze. There she is befriended by Harley Dane (Thurston Hall) who has sunk from gentleman to dance hall pianist. A trapper comes into the joint and gambles with Dermot for Allaine. He wins, but when he tries to take his reward, Allaine shoves him off the balcony and he falls to his death. Because Dane is being mistreated by Dermot, Allaine gives up her job to care for him. After swearing that he loves her, he says he wants to go back to his people and become worthy of her. She goes to Dermot and manages to get a dog team for his use. Not long after, Latour is found frozen to death, so Allaine is free to go off with Dane.
