Synopsis by Janiss Garza

A subdued Pauline Frederick plays against her usual worldly type in this slow-moving melodrama. The husband of Lady Myra Ingleby (Frederick) is off fighting in the World War. She is devastated when Sir Derysk Brand (Emmett King) tells her that her husband has been killed. The War Office gives her the details -- Lord Ingleby was killed, not by enemy fire, but because of an error committed by one of his fellowmen, whose name is never to be disclosed. The grieving widow retreats to her Cornwall estate for a rest. Staying at the inn is a man known as Jim Airth (Roy Stewart), who carries a grief of his own. While Lady Myra is napping on the beach, the tide rolls in and Airth risks his life to save her from drowning. The pair fall in love, but later she discovers that he is the man responsible for her husband's death. This separates them, but later, Lady Myra returns to Cornwall and history repeats itself -- she falls asleep on the sand and the tide comes in. Once again Airth saves her. They finally decide that they were meant to be together and reconcile.
