Alternately known as a "21st Century Jacques Cousteau" and "The Michelangelo of the Deep," Al Giddings pioneered the art of deep sea cinematography as an extension of his diving expeditions; he also built a substantial career on the sets of underwater-themed movies, from his role as a camera operator on the 1977 The Deep to his involvement as a co-producer on the 1997 Titanic, and innumerable directorial assignments on made-for-television marine documentaries. With over 30 years of spectacular scuba footage under his belt, Giddings headlining this panoramic overview of his life and career. The program finds Terrel Cass, general manager of Garden City, NY PBS affiliate WLIW, interviewing the diver/cinematographer about his manifold accomplishments, supplemented by Giddings underwater footage.
