Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In the tradition of Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life, the British game show Under Manning was basically a vehicle for wacky comedian Bernard Manning, with the quiz portions taking a back seat to the laughs. Of course, the contestants did have to answer questions now and again, so it was up to announcer Charles Collingwood to conduct that aspect of the series. The winners received the not-so-coveted "Bernard Under Manning" award, and a bit of cash as well. Under Manning was shown by the Southern Television division of Britain's ITV in 1981.
