The nephew of deceased filmmaker Howard Brookner goes on a search for his uncle's first film, a documentary about Beat novelist William S. Burroughs made in the early '80s. Upon discovering that his uncle's archives are stored at Burroughs' former home, he excavates the collection and pieces together a portrait of a forgotten artist and a New York that is no more.
