Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title of this French domestic melodrama translates roughly as A Cop. The cop in question, played by Lucien Coedel, is saddled with a weakling brother-in-law (Raymond Pellegrin). Despite our hero's best efforts, his in-law opts for a life of crime, resulting in misery and tragedy for everyone, none more so than the cop's wife (Suzy Carrier). Fairly compelling story-wise, Un File is hampered by indifferent direction and threadbare production values. By the time the film hit the screens in February of 1948, star Lucien Coedel was dead, killed in an accidental fall from a moving train.
