Anna Deavere Smith gained terrific critical acclaim for her one-woman show 1993, which was loosely focused around the notorious Rodney King riots of 1992. Using her remarkable physical and vocal abilities, she brings forth a dizzying variety of Angelenos, from a Beverly Hills real estate agent to down and out assault victims.
