Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Helen Frazer (Betty Blythe) marries Harold Lawton (Fred Jones) only because her grandmother wants her to, though the reason -- when family lawyer and all-around good guy Alfred Emerson (William Carleton) also loves her -- is a mystery. Lawton, in the language of the day, is a rounder and a rascal, and he makes Helen's life miserable. Emerson, of course, still hangs around after the couple are wed, and offers the unhappy wife a sympathetic ear. One of Helen's old suitors, Howard Hendricks (Tyrone Power, Sr.), offers to finance Lawton for a year under a humiliating agreement. But before the young wife can compromise herself, her husband kills Hendricks. Helen is the one who stands trial for the murder -- can she clear her name?
