Synopsis by Mark Deming

Improvisational comedy is a medium in which most performers are lucky if they come up with five or ten minutes of material that's effective on a given night. Then there is the team of T.J. Jagodowski and David Pasquesi, a pair of actors and comedians who began working together at Chicago's legendary Second City improv company. Jagodowski and Pasquesi regularly perform as a duo in New York and Chicago, where they spontaneously create hour-long shows that display the fragile art of improvisational theater at its best, generating characters and narrative arcs with a skill few in the medium can match. Filmmaker Alex Karpovsky offers a look into the unique working relationship of Jagodowski and Pasquesi and their approach to improvisation in the documentary Trust Us, This Is All Made Up, which includes plenty of footage of the pair on-stage as well as profiles of the actors in their off-hours. Trust Us, This Is All Made Up was an official selection at the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival.
