This film is part of a series that examines some of the mental disorders found in modern society. This episode, hosted by Jaclyn Smith, focuses on eating disorders. Eating disorders are among the most prevalent afflictions in civilized societies, as people use food as a substitute for some other emotional need. Among the famous who have suffered from the disease are Karen Carpenter and Princess Diana. Although commonly seen in women, the disease also manifests in men. The two phases of anorexia and bulimia are discussed.
