Synopsis by Ed Atkinson

Though there is a great deal of research that is being conducted in the rainforests, these wild and ancient lands are not accommodating to your average tourist. Most of us have had to rely on the tenacity and bravery of others in order to learn about and see what happens in the rainforests. Tropical Rainforest is a film that will definitely make you feel as if you were in the middle of the action. Originally filmed in the IMAX format, this bold look into the daily happenings of the rainforest will thrill and educate at the same time. Director Ben Shedd has brought together some of the most amazing nature footage ever captured. This 40 minute feature takes you on a top to bottom tour, from the canopy to the forest floor. Geoffrey Holder aptly describes the animals and insects that you encounter, and since this was an IMAX feature it was filmed with the intent of making you feel like you are the camera, you will want to know what it is you are encountering. Ladysmith Black Marribazo and Rodrigo Salazar Salvatierra collaborated on a musical score that confidently backs the action, making the entire experience one of full immersion. The DVD version (from Slingshot Entertainment) of this film is equipped with Internet links and several other menu options that create an even more fulfilling educational and entertaining experience.
