Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This amusing parody of a romantic melodrama revolving around the rich and famous begins on the Riviera when countess Vera da Vinci (Violetta Sanchez) is hit by a car driven by Rudiger Keienburg (Wolfgang Joop), a wealthy fashion mogul from Dusseldorf. A romance between the guilt-struck Rudiger and the rundown countess begins from the time she is in the hospital, with the main damage (to her face) repaired by plastic surgery. Parallel to this budding romance, is another between a last-minute, stand-in model at a fashion show and the manager/designer of the show. But then, horror of horrors, the countess and the enamored Rudiger find out that they are long-lost step-siblings -- and worse yet, the family tree is a gnarled one at that. Between the dialogue that pokes fun at the speech patterns found in these melodramas, and the costumes that exaggerate their dress, this spoof of a genre will entertain even the non-fashion conscious.
